What is a Rogue State?
Lets take a look at the United States' National Security Council's
definition.
V. Prevent
Our Enemies from Threatening Us, Our Allies, and Our Friends with Weapons of
Mass Destruction
White House, United States National Security Council
In the 1990s we witnessed the emergence of a small number of rogue
states that, while different in important ways, share a number of
attributes. These states:
 | brutalize their own people and squander their
national resources for the personal gain of the rulers; |
 | display no regard for international law, threaten
their neighbors, and callously violate international treaties to which they
are party; |
 | are determined to acquire weapons of mass
destruction, along with other advanced military technology, to be used as
threats or offensively to achieve the aggressive designs of these regimes;
|
 | sponsor terrorism around the globe; and |
 | reject basic human values and hate the United States
and everything for which it stands. |
Now lets hear from a supporter of recent US/UK actions, e.g. "The Coalition of
the Willing".
“Without the UK/US (which is based on the western concept of
Judeo-Christian ethics) these concepts of fairness, charity and objective
morality wouldn't even exist for them to benefit from while whining about how
bad we are and deserving of the evil, G-dless societies that come after us out
of sheer jealousy and destructive impulses.”

Ok, lets take a look at one of those ethical messages.
Matthew 7:2-4 :: King James Version (KJV)
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but
considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine
eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
So then lets compare their
criteria (the NSC's) to some of their own words, policies and
actions.

 | brutalize their own people and squander their national resources for
the personal gain of the rulers; |
Personal Gain of the rulers - "Bush was
gently mocking the endless process-- and above all the fast-moving story of
the largest corporate bankruptcy in U.S. history--a scandal that has so far
defied White House attempts to isolate it or explain it away."
Brutalize their own people - "During
the last few years, the public has become aware of several examples where
U.S. Government researchers intentionally exposed Americans to potentially
dangerous substances without their knowledge or consent."
 | display no regard for international law, threaten their neighbors,
and callously violate international treaties to which they are party; |
Rule of law or rule of force - "The United States
vetoed the resolution. It now stands as the only state on record which has
both been condemned by the World Court for international terrorism and has
vetoed a Security Council resolution calling on states to observe
international law…"
 | are determined to acquire weapons of mass destruction, along with
other advanced military technology, to be used as threats or offensively to
achieve the aggressive designs of these regimes; |
Biological and Chemical - "U.S. Recently
Produced Anthrax in a Highly Lethal Powder Form"
Nuclear - "Using a nuclear weapon,
no matter how small, could easily ignite a broader nuclear war,..."
 | sponsor terrorism around the globe; and |
Background - “We've had allies
throughout our history that aren't necessarily of the same philosophy and
persuasion that we are, regarding principles and values. Sometimes your
realpolitik interests demand that."
Iraq - Rumsfeld 'offered help to Saddam'
CIA - Backyard Terrorism
Nicaragua case study -
"...official orders to the terrorist army to attack what are called “soft
targets,” meaning undefended civilian targets, and to keep away from the
Nicaraguan army."
Foreign Policy - "Our
leaders are cruel because only those willing to be inordinately cruel and
remorseless can hold positions of leadership in the foreign policy
establishment ..."
 | reject basic human values and hate the United States and everything
for which it stands. |
The U.S. NSC and CIA - "Articles
of Impeachment of President George W. Bush Vice President Richard B. Cheney
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Attorney General John David
Ashcroft"
Article 1 - "It is
unfortunate that the cluster bombs -- the unexploded ones -- are the same
color as the food packets."
Article 6 - "If you don't
violate someone's human rights some of the time, you probably aren't doing
your job."
Article 8 - "I can assure you
that no one at CIA believes a word Bush said. What's more, no one at CIA
believes that Bush believes a word Bush said."
- Under Construction -
When reading the pages in this section I think it would
be helpful to read and consider the following article, particularly the
portions on the
Triune Brain theory. It provides significant insight on, and
an explanation for, the belief that violence and coercion are practical and
wise methods for social change.
#TL12: HOW TO ACHIEVE EMOTIONAL CONTROL
By Mark Lindsay
“In The Dragons of Eden, after describing the characteristic behaviors of the
reptile brain which I’ve just listed above, Carl Sagan says, "This seems to me
to characterize a great deal of modern human bureaucratic and political
behavior." Bureaucratic behavior is "controlled at its core" by the reptilian
brain, hence we observe coercion and physical violence, territorial and
jurisdictional claims, political rituals such as the presidential motorcade,
and the social hierarchies for which bureaucratic organizations are
notorious.”
After reading the article I think you are likely to derive additional
insight from the following citations.
The Secrets of September 11
Wednesday 30 April 2003, MSNBC
April 30 — Even as White House political aides plot a 2004 campaign plan
designed to capitalize on the emotions and issues raised by the September 11
terror attacks, administration officials are waging a behind-the-scenes battle
to restrict public disclosure of key events relating to the attacks. …One such
CIA briefing, in July 2001, was particularly chilling and prophetic.
al·le·go·ry n. pl. al·le·go·ries
1.a. The representation of abstract ideas or principles by characters,
figures, or events in narrative, dramatic, or pictorial form.
Revelation 13 (KJV)
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound
was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make
war with him?
International Law Seen at Risk in U.S. Fight with Security Council
Fri Jul 5, 2002
"The real reason behind Washington's blackmail [in the Security Council] is
the most troubling," according to Kenneth Roth, the executive director of
Human Rights Watch (HRW), writing in the Financial Times this week. "An
increasingly influential faction in the Bush administration believes that U.S.
military and economic power is so dominant that the U.S. is no longer served
by international law."
"Dominance" means the ability to affect and dominate an
adversary's will both physically and psychologically. Physical dominance
includes the ability to destroy, disarm, disrupt, neutralize, and to render
impotent. Psychological dominance means the ability to destroy, defeat, and
neuter the will of an adversary to resist; or convince the adversary to accept
our terms and aims short of using force. The target is the adversary's will,
perception, and understanding. The principal mechanism for achieving this
dominance is through imposing sufficient conditions of "Shock and Awe" on the
adversary to convince or compel it to accept our strategic aims and military
objectives. Clearly, deception, confusion, misinformation, and disinformation,
perhaps in massive amounts, must be employed.
